Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah said on Friday that some Lebanese parties unfairly insist on accusing Hezbollah of obstructing cabinet formation in Lebanon and blaming it on false assumptions related to the Iran nuclear deal.
Delivering a televised speech to address the latest developments in Lebanon, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that Iran has consistently refused to include any issue in the Vienna talks other than the nuclear deal.
“The Islamic Republic does not agree to negotiate on behalf of anyone, neither the Lebanese, nor the Syrians, nor the Yemenis, nor the Palestinians, nor the Bahrainis. Iran simply helps as a friendly country upon request.
Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that Hezbollah has always rejected the government vacuum, recalling that the Party had rejected the resignation of Prime Minister Saad Hariri after the 2019 protests.
Calling for a swift cabinet formation in light of the deteriorating living conditions and the fuel crisis in Lebanon, Sayyed Nasrallah mentioned that the Hezbollah delegation met with MP Gebran Bassil and that President Nabih Berri met with the Prime Minister appointed to facilitate the process of government creation.
Commenting on MP Bassil’s appeal for the formation of the cabinet, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that Hezbollah has started to help in the defense of the rights of all Lebanese.
Sayyed Nasrallah asserted that the 8-8-8 formula does not exist in government, warning all parties against false positions based on this assumption.
In this regard, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that the Lebanese Shiite Muslims do not seek tripartite power sharing, adding that they also reject such proposals.
“Minister Bassil did not entrust me with the rights of Christians and I believe that none of the political forces with similar influence can accept the part that Hezbollah satisfies.”
Hezbollah has its separate terms that allow it to accept certain actions and reject the government dispute resolution role, according to Sayyed Nasrallah who added that MP Bassil is smart enough to avoid creating a wedge between Hezbollah and the Movement. Amal.
Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that Hezbollah only supports fair demands for cabinet formation, giving the example of support for the president’s power to participate in the creation of the government and the rejection of the prime minister-designate to grant a political team the right of veto in the Council of Ministers. .
The Hezbollah leader also commented on the reactions of some Christian parties to MP Bassil’s appeal, stressing that sectarianism and racism have blinded them.
Sayyed Nasrallah reiterated that President Berri’s initiative contributed to the agreement between the parties concerned on the number of ministers and the sectarian distribution of seats as well as portfolios, adding that this effort will continue until he resolves the rest of the controversial points.
Sayyed Nasrallah asserted that Hezbollah has made all administrative and logistical preparations to import petrol and fuel from Iran, noting that when the Lebanese state declares not to resolve the crisis, the final order will be given to ‘bring Iranian fuel.

Sayyed Nasrallah also called on Lebanese parties who reject Hezbollah’s decision to import Iranian fuel to find an alternative, stressing that Hezbollah will welcome any effort in this regard.

Sayyed Nastrallah indicated that the government subsidy will certainly be canceled when the central bank’s liquidity soon runs out, considering that all Lebanese parties must participate in this decision in order to take responsibility for its repercussions.
Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that Hezbollah has supported the ration card which, after parliamentary approval, will help the Lebanese people to stand firm in the face of the crisis.
Sayyed Nasrallah called on protesters across Lebanon to refrain from cutting off roads, explaining that such acts will only harm citizens and may never contribute to economic progress.

US statements on supporting the Lebanese army to confront Hezbollah are aimed at stoking sedition among the Lebanese, according to Sayyed Nasrallah who denied that Hezbollah is concerned about strengthening the Lebanese army.
